What is your question?
GM Dealer Service rep said it's impossible to see from under hood. Hard to see under neath without a lift. He was quoting what mechanic told him. 1 end of it cracked before and under clamp that due to leak will get loose not long after tightening. Change hose and clamp. The stunning thing is he said as GM Dealer they can only install GM parts but that hose not available. Said to find other shop that can just match the hose width and length and preferably get new spring clamps instead of screw ring clamps that always get loose sooner or later. I asked why the heck is it down there what it for. He not sure. Still searching net for it just to understand. I suspect it is to move coolant to automatic transmission transaxle under the engine ? So there would be a two down there. Anyone know ? Have pics ? 1994 Pontiac Sunbird LE 2 door coupe Automatic 3 spd Air Cond 4cyl 2.0 L LE4 MPFI SOHC I4 . timing belt water pump. v belt AC. Serpentine belt gen, power steer, tensioner arm pully.
What makes this problem better or worse?
Only leaks when enough pressure build up from temp reaching around 70c.
How long has your 1994 Pontiac Sunbird had this problem?
2 yrs. Wasn't too bad since only 2 short trips/mth. Got too bad now.

Hello, if you were willing to spend money at the dealership and they won't do it, then spend money at another shop that you can trust near your and have the repair performed. There's no point in trying to decide what it's for -- that doesn't change th need. Have the hose replaced. It's probably a cooler hose as you stated. Side note - find a different dealership! My dealership would work with helping a client with a 26 year old vehicle and install aftermarket parts using my factory trained technicians if it was me. Sometimes people are too immovable.
