How do I know if the rack and pinion is going out on my 97 Grand Prix GT

It turns to the right pretty easy but it's super hard to turn to the left.

Rack got to be scored / gaulded inside resulting in drag resistance when turning left. During rack replacement - System needs to be throughly flushed out before adding new fluid!
