Why does my car suddenly seem to vibrate when it's running but stopped?

It starts to vibrate when I stop at a light, stop sign, or in traffic and the car is in drive. If I switch to neutral is goes away!

Failing engine/transmission mounts are prime suspects! .. When shifted into gear, the engine and transmission move, if mounts are failing, (rubber insulators deteriorated) vibration will be felt as movement is excessive, to the point that engine & transmission movement causes metal to metal contact within the mounts... Hence > Vibration.
