My car runs very rough and black smoke comes out the tailpipe.

I checked the FPR and no fuel is coming out so far. The low fuel light stays on so I decided to pull the tank and check fuel pump and contents of tank. Have not pulled tank yet. Just out of curiosity I decided to try and crank the car and it ran great as long as it was jacked up in the rear. Sounds crazy? You bet!
