What is your question?
there does not appear to be any coolent in the oil but we do have some oil consumption approx. 60k miles

Radiator problem most likely!... Trans cooler inside.. Not engine oil... Got to have it checked out!!... It's not the intake....
Actually on my wife car it was in fact the intake gasket. Just in the overflow , or degas tank. I will be sure to keep an eye on the radiator though. An intake gasket is not a typical diy job, this one, surely not .
Until you can explain how the lower intake manifold/gasket (obviously this is the 3.4 V/6) can put OIL into the COOLANT system in any way, I have to 'respectfully'... but open-mindedly, disagree!
To be honest I did not really pursue the how. I found it quite unusual as well. Since the complaint is oil , and transmission fluid - there are no oil cooler lines to the radiator on my se. If there was a large quantity of "oil" I would agree , especially if it is red or brownish. A very small amount of oil in the coolant is what I observed, less than a quart.Just enough to film up. A possible scenario is it would have to be drawn in by a vacuum. From the cooling system on cool down. Alternatively it is also possible it is a more serious issue such as a head gasket. Please tell me you have never seen this either. Despite what a corporate attitude would imply a quart of oil per 1000 miles on an engine with only a mere 60000 miles is not optimal . It does deserve some attention. Since the exact question was is it possible, my mind says well yes , just not that likely. In the several hundred intakes I have done, my own is the one and only sad and lonely, so I do see where you are coming from _but I disagree, That engine begs for attention , if the transmission slipped you would be validated. That is my opinion. Additionally these engines , along with the v-8s on occasion had issue with porous castings. Since these engines are a matter of when ,not whether as far as the lower intake gaskets go, it would seem to be an odds on favorite. External leakage is the smoking gun , just wait for it.
Kinda odd that there was or is no reply from the original posted question!.... Maybe they got rid of the car....
You never know Pushrod.
