how to remove a stuck key in ignition, does it have a key release button.

I cant remove my key from my ignition. It wont pass the acc. I tried switching my gears, unlocking my doors and removed the middle console to see if the gears were sticking. no luck with key removal. Ended up killing my battery and I cant jump start it.

What makes this problem better or worse?
