Reduced Engine Power

What is your question?

My 2005 Pontiac G6 had been running fine this morning. Then when I got into this afternoon my car died, and the message board read reduced engine power. It dies whenever I slow down or stop. It did this several times. I tried unhooking the battery cable for 30 minutes to see if it would run ok until I could get it to a shop. Any other suggestions?
