What is your question?
The light for power steering had went out so turn the car off for a minute & turn it back on the power steering is working again but a couple days ago it was like it was a transmission issue even though its brand new transmission through amico. when it goes to shift it jerks a little and throws every light on the dash for a second then goes off . The lights only pop when trying to shift .
What makes this problem better or worse?
Nothing I haven’t got to drive it I put it in drive parked to go somewhere and it started rolling backwards I put it in park and turned the car off started it put it in drive again n it died on me . Charged the battery to 100% auto zone said my battery was good n it doesn’t have any power nor will it start .
How long has your 2005 Pontiac G6 had this problem?
I’ve had the power steering issue going on and off for about 3 weeks and I could still drive it anywhere but now that shifting thing and going in drive and rolling backwards only happened for a day n it won’t start anymore .

Hi, this is Bo, an auto expert on RepairPal's Car Genius team! Your G6 is definitely trying to tell you something—and it’s not good. When the power steering light flickers, the car rolls backward in drive, and every dash light flashes during shifting, that’s usually not a mechanical issue. It’s electrical, and likely tied to a failing power or ground connection, or a control module losing its mind. Start by checking the battery cables and grounds—especially the one from the battery to the chassis and engine block. Even if the battery tests good, a weak ground or corroded connection can cause voltage drops that confuse the power steering, transmission, and body control module. That would explain the jerking, stalling, and the light show on your dash. Also, have the alternator tested under load. If it’s not charging properly, the electric power steering and transmission sensors won’t get the voltage they need, and the car may stall or fail to start.
