i had a 1990 Ford f250 that did the same thing, replacing the ignition switch as well as the key cylinder fixed it. hope this helps

talking to others that may very well be the probem. So far what i have done is lighten the key chain by a whole lot like ignition and fuel key only. so far the problem has seized. keeping fingers crossed. Thanks for Reply
