Hello, When putting the vehicle in gear, you get the metallic sound, but what do you hear when you put the vehicle in park? Do you get a rough, ratcheting sound when you put the car in park? does it sound like putting the car in park is what makes the transmission output shaft stop turning? The only reason the CV axle would not allow the vehicle to move is if the splines were stripped off on one end, or if the actual CV joint had broken apart. Both are very difficult to accomplish. More likely, the transmission has a separate internal issue, and if you can feel that it is in gear, but accelerating does not change anything, the transmission might be slipping, the torque converter could be trashed, or the differential could be significantly damaged. Not to discourage you, but there are a lot of possibilities, and I encourage you to seek diagnostic assistance before spending any more on parts.
When shifted into PARK - can the car still be moved by pushing it? Does PARK still keep the car from rolling ??
