What is making my aztek 04 not shift and on the dashsay awd is disengaged whats?

just a guess but id say your shift solenoids are shot, however my experience was with a ford. still should be basically the same concept. on my for i had three shift solenoids, all for one objective, talk about over doing it. lucky for me one of the solenoids was just inside the pan so i pulled it and swapped the part. it worked for me so i can only hope you get it as easy as i did. dont know if that helps.
