Positive jumper cable contacted aluminum crossmember inches from the battery, and now the voltage indicates 16 volts and dash LED indicators flicker in brightness. Where is the voltage regulator? Engine is 3.5L V6

Hello, The voltage regulator is part of the alternator. Simple enough, just replace the alternator. Also, the battery may suffer and fail due to overcharging, and the positive battery post and terminal should be removed, inspected for corrosion, and cleaned if this has run for more than a couple hours. Lastly, electronics are very sensitive to arching, as you already know, and there may be some residual or future issues after shorting the positive battery post to ground. Check all of your fuses as well. http://repairpal.com/plymouth-within-10-miles-of-morrison-illinois-61270
Scan test required .. PCM contains and controls voltage regulator.... Good idea to read actual alternator output voltage at battery terminals using a volt meter.
Wow, you are correct where the manual is not. Thanks, Pushrod, I stand corrected.
Can also be converted to older year model external regulator - without illuminating the check engine light .. In reality, it needs to go to a professional... Just like most of em do! .. Let's face it, the days of DIY auto repair have been over with for quite some time now... Folks simply do not possess the skills needed... Try as we may, it is very few that really understand the suggestions given.... Hopefully it might lead them in the right direction though.
