2001 Oldsmobile Silhouette No matter what you set the air vent control to the air flow never changes. I have been told it may be an actuator. Where is it located and approximately how much would it take to get it fixed?

you more than likely have a vacuum leak either under the hood near the firewall, passenger side,or under the dash at the controls.check under the hood first.start the engine, put on heat/face vents, listen for hissing sounds/vacuum leak, see what happens.when there is a vacuum leak, the blower defaults to the defrost mode, and sometimes defrost/floor mode.easy fix,and vacuum hose is cheap!!
Thanks for your question. Please when you have time bring your vehicle into our shop and lets take a look at your vehicle. Hard to say for cost,we need to pinpoint the source of the problem.
Please call if you like and ask for Chuck or Mark.
Thanks again Chuck Hart

It never changes from def/floor. Nothing comes out of forward facing, forward facing/floor, etc.
