I'm trying to find the problem with my radiator fans

I have not listed any profile sorry. I found one at Oriellies for $80. Cant see buying one for a simple 1 time test. Id like some advice on jumping the fan relays. do I place the hot wire cable on the positive post ground the negative to the frame and put the other end of the positive to the fan relay while the car is running. would I find that the fan is working when it gets the juice?
