What would be a fair estimate to fix a vacuum leak on my car.

What is your question?

I was told it would require a lot of labor and very few parts. Not sure what would be fair for that amount of labor.

I believe it is the intake manifold gasket that is leaking and is common on my car. It is causing a little bit of a rough idle and loss of power. We have already replaced plugs, wires, fuel system, map sensor, oxygen sensor and pcv valve, it is running a lot better but my mechanic feels the other problem is due to the vacuum leak..

out here in Pa. it runs anywhere from 650-800 depending on different shops and labor rates. Roy

Thank you Roy I am looking into it now, I was also told to have the idle air control valve checked because of the symptoms..

the common issue is coolant leaking for this repair. have not seen many vacuum leaks causing your issue. i have seen fuel pressure regulator causing these symtoms. I suggest getting a second opinion before proceeding. Roy

We installed a new idle air control valve last night and it is better but still acting up on the freeway, still acting like it is cutting out or wants to. Frustrating not sure what to do next. The computer isn't tripping codes and giving us anything. Last time I paid $100 for a diagnostic it didn't solve anything. My friends that are fixing it are mechanics and they are trying to figure it out. It doesn't appear to have a coolant leak but the vacuum leak I saw myself. It runs like I said but acts like it wants to cut out and has problems starting. The guy at the parts store said maybe a throttle position sensor or something like that.
