It is extremely easy to get the plug wires placed on wrong coil terminals - that will certainly cause the symptoms you have posted here..
Google > 3.1 gm firing order That'll show you where the plug wires go for the 3.1 OR the 3.4 engine. I highly recommend re-checking firing order.. Good luck!
I see this is a 1986 year model - for that we need to know WHICH ENGINE is under hood. Disregard previous answer.
