We put gas into the car and replaced the spark plugs. Then the car wouldn't start until we used starter fluid. We can smell gas but it won't stay running. CONFUSED HELP PLEASE

check the vaccum line that goes into the fuel pressure regulator.check it for cracks, splits, dry rot.also, you said you smell fuel.pull the vaccum line off the regulator and see if you can smell fuel,or has fuel in vaccum line,if it does, the regulator is bad.also, where the regulator bolts up,there is an o-ring,look and check if leaking there, also.post findings
Thank you for you're response it is greatly appreciated. I will be checking that. I will post the results of my findings.
your welcome,Tarheel Person!
We actually cleaned out the fuel tank, replaced the fuel pump and the fuel regulator now she runs :D We did have to replace the muffler as well. We didn't want to take any chances of it breaking down lol
very good, glad you got it a going.thanks for the update.
Now I am having issues with the service engine soon light coming on and going off lol. I have changed the oil. After that it was good for a few days then it came back on. While the light is on it still runs great. I AM SO LOST with this one. We have put almost 1K into this car and if it wasn't my grandmothers I wouldn't have done all of this lol. DO YOU HAVE ANY IDEAS?
is it service engine soon,or check engine light, some cars have both?post what it is,i'll be back around 9:30pm,it's 7:54 now.
the service engine soon light is the check engine light. Auto zone and advanced auto tried to tell me that it wasn't the same so I have stopped going to them and started going to O'Reillys they seem to listen to me and DON'T treat me like an idiot lol. My husband said it is a vacuum line but I have no idea about those lol. I hope you can give me some idea PLEASE :D I do appreciate all of you're help in this journey
