engine whine when I accelerate and turn

What is your question?

There is a whine that comes from somewhere in or around the engine when I accelerate. The noise gets higher pitched as I go faster and then around 50 or so I can't really hear it anymore. Also I hear a noise when I steer the car. It's louder when I'm going slow around turns. I'm going to check the power steering fluid tomorrow, but what about the acceleration whine?
