Why will it not make any sound at all when I turn the key and battery is good new alternator

Hello, even thought you say the battery is good, I'd recommend professional testing of the battery to confirm this. It must be fully charged and able to sustain a load. If the battery is good, there could be an issue with cabling - clean and secure and free of corrosion? The transmission shift lever should be in Park or Neutral gears -- if the starting system does not see this due to a shift lever position sensor issue, it could prevent engine cranking.
