security light has been on for a week. we have put a new battery in it and a new starter and also the fuses and it still won't start. now do you disable it

My 2003 Oldsmobile Alero has security issues. The security light was on and the car would turn over, but not start. After a few days it would start again. Finally took it to a shop and the guy said to throw off the security system when the light is on is to turn the key to the on position 3 times, after the third time, leave the key in the on position. The security light will be blinking. After about 10-25 minutes the light will go off.. You can then turn the car off and it should start. This is a very annoying thing to have to deal with.
