Yes there is a fuel filter on your 02 Alero, I just replaced mine last year, cost me $15 CAD to get a new one, however that wasn't my problem, if you see the security light flashing on the dash before you start you car, leave the key in the on position till the light stops flashing, then turn the key back off and should start right up
