Alero with 4 cyl gets bad gas mileage, why?

What is your question?

I have a 2.4L 4 cyl and it only gets 19-20 mpg city. I do not know what work has been done to the car since I purchased it back in May 2010. I think thats horrible for a 4 cyl. Car has just over 109,000 miles now. Bout with just over 108,000k on engine. Oil had been changed every 3,000k miles thats all that was known when bought from dealership. Any suggestions?
