Something clearly has been damaged due to the accident. It's entirely impossible to guess from where I sit, because it requires eyes and hands on evaluation and a diagnostic tool as well to assess trouble codes to help locate the source of the problem. Good luck.
So should I take it to the auto parts store and get the codes read?
No, I suggest taking it to a local qualified technician who can troubleshoot your concerns. A parts store really does not have the skill level needed to know what's wrong -- presented only with stored codes. Testing is unrequited to find out what is wrong.
