2004 xterra 3.3 liter. Drove out of drive way, xterra stalled, and now cranks, but won't start. I started testing, and saw there was no spark coming off the dist..cap.. There is spark coming off the coil. So I installed a new cap and rotor and still there is no spark off the dist.. cap.. the rotor turns when the engine is being cranked. I just don't understand how there is spark at the coil. But it's not making it through the cap.. Is it possible that a bad crankshaft position sensor, could be the problem.. Also I have hooked up 3 different code readers... each one says link error..so I can't get the codes.. And sometimes when I turn the key to the on position before starting .. you can hear the fuel pump going for way longer then its supposed to, instead of shutting off after 5sec... Could this be a computer problem.. I have a new crank shaft position sensor I'm going to put in to see if that's the problem....
How long has your 2004 Nissan Xterra had this problem?

No guessing, just test and follow test procedures with a diagnostic tool and workshop manual. If you don't have the tools or manuals needed, you'll be flying blind and guessing while wasting money on parts you don't need. There is no other history for this vehicle or at the time of concern that can be relevant to the diagnosis? Highly unusual to just stall like that something seems to have happened but if there's nothing notable that you're aware of, testing is required to figure it out. www.repairpal.com/repair-shops
