Dealer service said code #PO 745 indicated solenoid valve cycle not consistent. Nissan does not provide part but does entire valve body at $930 cost. Service mngr said a transmission shop could get part at much lower cost. Is this serious problem? Should I go to tranny shop? Will this affect Tenn. emission annual inspection for licence renewal

A service engine soon light almost always causes you to fail an emissions test, unless Tennessee has really, really lax tests. If the service manager says a cheaper fix may be available outside of the dealership, he's a nicer guy than most, and it is worth looking into. Find the best independent transmission specialist in your area and get their opinion.
