I had it diagnosed with memorial car care center and they told me its low compression and valve misfire and so they told me I new to replace the engine. the engine does this shaking jerking movement when it's on. I wanted to know if there are other causes besides mechanical. The vehicle has 148,000 miles.

jdls1981 have them look at the cam adjust solenoid. I have a 2005 Nissan Xterra and the service engine light is on and the code is a misfire and the shop that I got to found out that it needs a new solenoid.
