Hello, your RPM should go up and down while driving, as a normally operating CVT - Continuously Variable Transmission -- will cause fluctuations of engine speed depending on how much you are using the accelerator pedal and the desired speed you are hoping to attain. If your engine revs to "red line" on the tachometer with no power or transmission engagement, then you should have that looked at.
