Hello, I’m Pete from the Car Genius team at RepairPal. I’m sorry you’re dealing with this concern on your Nissan Versa. The service engine soon warning will come on to alert to you that your engine computer has detected a problem with one of the engine, transmission, or emissions related components. This warning can come on for a large number of different concerns ranging from sensor failure, mechanical issues, wiring concern, or in some cases even an internal computer failure among other possibilities. What will need to be done to identify which component is causing this concern is to have a scan tool plugged into your vehicle's data port that is able to communicate with all computers in your vehicle to read out the trouble codes. Once this has been performed the code(s) that come up can then be properly diagnosed to pinpoint and then repair this concern and then the code can be cleared out to reset and remove the warning message. A local parts store can generally read out the fault codes free of charge for you but in most cases are unable to properly diagnose the concern. The best place to have this checked into would be at a reputable repair facility in your area. I do recommend having this checked into as soon as you can to prevent a possible break down or further damage and concerns.
