Hi, first - you should have a 5 years / 60,000 mile powertrain warranty. Is this warranty expired? By miles? Second, if you have higher mileage, you should probably consult local repair shops near you for competitive quotes -- for new parts and even used / reconditioned parts available in the marketplace. Labor prices will vary as well as component costs -- so do check around for multiple quotes and determine what shop you would choose to work with too. Hi! this is Bo with Car Genius at RepairPal! I'm sorry you're having to replace your engine! As previously stated, always confirm with the dealer to makes sure you're not still in warranty or that there's not a warranty extension on the engine itself. The cost of replacing an engine can vary greatly depending on several factors such as the type of engine, the complexity of the vehicle’s design, and where you choose to get the work done. For a 2020 Nissan Sentra, if you choose to replace the engine with a new one from the original dealer, it will be the most reliable and long-lasting option, but also the most expensive ($7500-9500.) Alternatively, you could consider replacing the engine with a used one. Used engines have a wide rang of costs depending on the model, milage of the donor unit and condition. However, this option has a little more risk involved as no one will guarantee the engine’s lifespan like a new unit from the dealer (2000-3500.)
