2017 Nisson Sentra - The car symbol flashes on and off red every couple of seconds. When I lock the car it is solid for a little bit and they starts blinking again. Just bought the car used yesterday and haven't gotten through the whole book. The security system says a light will blink but doesn't say it never goes out. Worried that if it never goes out it will eventually drain the battery.

Owner, There is an illustration in your owner's manual that will tell you what that light represents, sounds like a possible security problem, and I doubt if it will ever drain the battery. For further information, we recommend that you see a repair professional at their facility, ( or ours ), to have the situation checked out and resolved. Thank You for Your Inquiry ! :)
If you're not having any issues with the car starting and that light doesn't blink/flash after it starts, then that's probably normal. I have a Ford Truck that is a little older than your car, like 17 years older and although I don't have a symbol of a car, only a Theft light and it blinks every 2 seconds, except when I turn the switch on,it stays solid red for 3 seconds and goes off and does not blink again until I turn the switch off regardless if the key is in the key cylinder or not. I don't have any type of an alarm although you probably do. It's a Theft Deterrent System.
