When I mash brakes gently in wet weather road my abs is engaged

Hi, this is Bo, an auto expert on RepairPal's Car Genius team! If the ABS (Anti-lock Braking System) engages unexpectedly in wet weather when you gently apply the brakes, there are a few possible causes. One reason could be that the ABS does exactly what it's designed for! It may be detecting some slippery road conditions, where the ABS system detects wheel lock-up and activates to prevent skidding. However, if the ABS is activating unnecessarily, it could indicate a malfunction in the system, such as a faulty wheel speed sensor or ABS module. Having your Sentra inspected by a qualified mechanic to diagnose and address the issue properly is recommended to ensure safe braking performance in all conditions.
