Why does my1997 Nissan Sentra GXE create a large explosion of white smoke?

My car runs fine. It had a lot of problems when I bought it. But it happens ONLY in certain areas. It's very selective where it decides to smoke at, and when it does, it launches a large explosion of white smoke that burns my oil excessively, and its been doing this forever now. I had this car for almost a year. No signs of leak, just that cloud that only happens at certain areas. When it does happen, it usually seems to be after I turn.
What makes this problem better or worse?
