I'm researching compact SUVs to get my son and it seems like the Nissan Rogue is a good choice. I've heard you get better gas mileage if you have a manual transmission. My son knows how to drive stick and is always interested in saving money.

No, the Nissan Rogue doesn't have a manual transmission, even as an option. The Rogue comes with a continuously variable transmission, or CVT, a different kind of automatic transmission that doesn't use gears. Learn more about how CVTs work here: https://repairpal.com/what-is-cvt-transmission
