What is your question?
I was told "front cv axle boot was torn and throwing grease. They recommended replacing the Axle. Does the whole shaft have to be replaced?

Hello, the whole axle shaft does not typically need to be replaced. Here's the break down: 1) Do you know if the grease loss and contamination is so great that the joint should be replaced? 2) If the grease has just started leaking perhaps a boot and grease replacement is all that is needed. 3) If the grease loss is excessive and contamination has gotten in, then yes - a joint replacement may be needed. 4) Due to parts availability or perhaps even cost of labor for joint versus parts and labor for axles replacement. -- what makes best sense here?
