1996 Nissan Pick up trucks had a 2.4L 4 cylinder engine only. This vehicle does have a coil. Perhaps you've listed the wrong vehicle? Even so, the engine's processor controls coil operation and ignition function, and testing should be performed to find out what's wrong.
Pull distributor cap and rotor button - VERY CLOSLEY inspect the rotor button for signs 'burn through' .. top to bottom... TEST fuses as well.
I'll try that when I get home I found the relay box yesterday was try to swap relays around but for the life of me I couldn't get the relay to come out got worried I was go break one is it a secret to getting the relays out
As a rule - relays are very reliable .. A common problem is rotor button burn through which grounds out ignition spark to the distributor shaft. Of course these are simply guesses - however are based on know problems that I have experienced with these particular vehicles. Can test for spark from coil as a helper cranks engine (distributor cap off).. IF coil is producing spark - **replace cap and rotor** !! While engine is CRANKING - the *coil will still produce spark* with cap removed - if ‘system’ is functional. (I am assuming you know how to test for spark from coil) .. IF not - seek hands-on help from qualified personnel. Good luck!
Distributor cap was bad replaced it an rotor button but no still no fire what is the best way to check the coil for fire
The coil is built into the distributor is what I meant it is the right vehicle listed I'm not sure how to check if the coil is firing is it a sensor in the distributor or does the whole thing have to be replaced
