Make sure the cooling system is FULL.! Yep i know it sounds crazy but you better check that!!!! If low it will cause idle surge on this vehicle, Toyota as well!
So are you saying it idle low??
I mean it surges it is a 5 speed it is suppose to idle at around 850 R.P.M. but at idle it will drop about every 10 seconds to 450 R.P.M. and try to die catch itself and go back up to 850. Does this hot or cold engine. If this was an old motor with carburetor I would change the vaccum dashpot on idle stop to fix it but this is throttlebody aironly motor is fuel injected. bout the only things I have not changed are fuel pump and E.C.M.
Yep that's full . Just had radiator flushed last year and put all new antifreeze in. Seems like this problem started from a dead battery I changed battery let engine run for several minutes to retrain idle then about 2or 3 days latter all this started with the idle surge !!!! what really gets me is there are no codes showing in E.C.M. and no CEL on !!!
Idle air control or vacuum leak or take it to a mechanic!
Weird try disconnect battery for 10 min and try driving..
I will try that latter when I get up. Just got off a 12 hour shift. and its been to 2 repreable shops and they cant find any vaccum leak or bad sensor according to them and it only cost me 4 hours at 95.00 an hour at both places that adds up in a hurry. Both places said to bring it back when there not REAL busy and leave it for a couple of days. can only imagine the cost in that !!!
How about dirty or bad injectors, seems like bad injector , had that problem on a Chrysler new yorker 3.3 , drove us nuts. Had to fix cause we sold the guy the car a week before, Put 6 used injectors in " purred like a kitten"
Got up early disconnected battery for 10 minutes reconnected drove around for about 20 miles still no change. The truck runs like new anywhere above idle ,has great acceleration . I bought the truck new this is the only problem Ive had out of it. I went back checking all vacuum lines I don't think the B.P.T. valve or ( E.G.R. vacuum control vale ) is working properly could this cause idle surge
