Hello, I’m Pete from the Car Genius team at RepairPal. In order to remove the upper oil pan on your 2001 Nissan Pathfinder there are quite a few components that need to be removed to gain access to it. Some of these components include (if this is a four wheel drive model) the front axles and front differential assembly, the front exhaust pipes and components, steering linkage, wheels, and suspension carrier assembly. This repair being performed at a shop is usually around 7-8 hours of labor. Once the repair has been completed the vehicle will need to have an alignment performed to ensure the steering tracks properly and to make sure tires wear evenly. This type of repair is best to have performed by a reputable repair facility that has access to a hoist as well as the correct tools to access and replace it.
