Power steering problem, told needed rack and pinion and pressure hose replaced.

If the pressure hose is needing replaced, most often it is due to a fluid leak. If fluid leaks, it can cause power steering operation to be compromised, and a whining noise from the system due to low fluid level. However, I would suspect a visible fluid leak also. What is the question you have?
