It's worse when the engine is hot

Do you notice any oil when you check the coolant or any coolant when you check the oil? This would be a milky type of appearance and would indicate a possible head gasket issue causing compression to leak past the combustion chamber sending excessive pressure into the cooling system. If there are any indicators that the engine is running hot you should first check the operation of the engine cooling fan or a possible blockage in the system.
