What is your question?
I was told I needed a new compressor & accumulator .....AC comes on, blows hot air, & no leaks, FREON is full anyone has any other suggestions before I have to dish out loads of much needed $$$$$

answer number one is correct.is the compressor clutch spinning at all when you have the a/c on?or does the clutch cycle on off real fast?
If the AC comes on and blows, but doesn't blow cold, the most likely culprits are no or low refrigerant charge, or a failed compressor. If you've verified that your system does have a full charge - it's likely that your compressor is unable to develop normal operating pressures, even with a full charge of refrigerant, and it will need to be replaced. The accumulator can harbor contaminates that will damage your new compressor, so compressor manufacturers will not provide a warranty on your new compressor if the accumulator/reciever-dryer is not replaced at the same time. AC repairs can be expensive. Your best bet is to deal with a reputable shop, and fix it right the first time, rather than spending money trying to "save" money on cheaper fixes that don't get the job done.
Thank you for your reply & I think I will take it to an A/C repair place...I see that the more Im researching, i cant buy one part without the other....if I lived in florida...I would bring it to you...:)
And we'd love to get you " chilling" again!
I have a 2009 Maxima. The AC will not blow cold after everything above has been replaced and done. I have had 5-6 different mechanics. New compressor, new hose, new filters, new sensors, new fuses, no leaks, full of coolant---it works for a couple days after it is fixed and then it goes to blowing hot again. I need big time help.
The fact that it blows cold for a few days- then hot air again - suggests that you may still have a leak somewhere. I'm sorry that you haven't found a shop you feel confident in that you can stay with. Having "5-6 different mechanics" makes it harder to resolve a mystery. They're never really sure what the one before them did. A good one will always try to go back to square one. There are other components that could be allowing the refrigerant to escape. The condenser, evaporator and schrader valve are possibilities. Hopefully one ( or more) of your mechanics has installed florescent dye with the refrigerant charge. If so, a black light inspection of all the AC components should reveal the location of the leak. I hope you'll find a shop you can place your trust in to get to the bottom of your AC failure. It's no fun driving in Florida with no AC - and August is about as hot and humid as we get! Good luck to you.
I just got mines fixed about 2 wks ago...I bought a new compressor & accumulator drier & anyway right after it got fixed...it blew cold & then stopped...the it did again & it stopped......I took it back the Mechanic had to replace the Accumulator Drier Valve again...b/c he said the New one I had bought was defective ...after he replaced it.....its been working fine ever since.
Thank you both so much!! I have every confidence in these guys but someone is just missing something. Hopefully what you have mentioned in the reply will help put us in the right direction. I appreciate the replies! And yes, you are exactly right--humidity is fierce. It's reallllly bad. FloridaHeat (Susan)
Susan, also since you have a 2009 Nissan Maxima as I do.....go to Nissanassist.com & check out the "manufacturing Irregularity" issued for the ESCL (Electronic Steering Column lock) for the 09 Maxima & Altima... just wanted to give you heads up if you havent been notified by the Nissan corp already. Let's just say...I found out about it the hard way. All is well now & i am rolling again.
I dont think none of it switching on...because I had someone put the lil sensor thing & he put it under the car where the compressor was & was getting no charge, meaning no power. So Im have to go look at getting it all replaced.
no power?did they check fuses also?
you have to forgive me b/c I dont know the name of the device he used.....but he clamped these little jumpercable looking clamps that connects to the sensor....he clamped on the fuse panel under the hood & placed the sensor under the car to where the compressor was & said it wasnt coming on & tat apparently the clutch switch is broken or somthn.....all these terms sound alien to me but Im learning as I'm trying to get a clear & concise diagnosis. Question: If I get the compressor & accumulator drier replaced....do I neccesarily have to get the other parts replaced as well?
call or go by local Autozone in your area.they will tell you or print out for you what will need to be replaced with the compressor to validate a (lifetime) warranty on the compressor.
