What is your question?
Last Friday my car started rattling on start up and ticking while driving I'm guessing it's the timing chain guides not sure I'm wanting to know if there might be other ways to fix it without taking the chain off or messing with the timing
What makes this problem better or worse?
It gets quieter after driving it a minute
How long has your 2008 Nissan Maxima had this problem?
A week

Hello, You can try replacing the timing chain tensioner, but that requires pulling off the tmiing chain cover (engine front cover). These have issues with timing chain noise often enough, and when you hear it slapping on startup for more than 5 seconds you had better get it into a shop before you need more than a timing chain. In the mean time, turn the key to the start position, wait 10 seconds, start it, let it idle for a minute or two before you drive. That will save some wear. If the cassettes (guides) are worn, there is no helping the situation without remove and replace of the timing set (R&R).
