I replaced my sensor on my transmission thinking it would fix my speedometer issue but no good. I just test drove my car qith my old sensor replaced with a new one but it didn't work. What do I do?

What makes this problem better or worse?

Having to use my phone as a speedometer but I don’t always get connection on my exact speed

Professional quality scan tool (and 'some' code readers) are capable of monitoring the vehicle speed sensor output reading - then those readings can be compared to the speedometer - very efficient way to determine where the failure lies.

IF VSS signal is present - weâ€™ll you should be able to figure that out..
