The Service Engine light is on. My mechanic says the Idle Control Module is malfunctioning and has damaged the ECM. The car also idles high. He wants $1,700 to repair the problem. He says they will eventually fail completely. The car is not worth it.

i repaired the problem myself. i believe u have a fault code as P0505. here is how i fixed it,i purchased a Hitachi IACV and shipped my ECM out to repair. my total cost on this repair was about 380. now,my car start like a champ and no CEL. i hope u can get ur problem solved soon.

Get another opinion from a mechanic that can check it out hands-on... That just don't sound right... (IMO!)
