Most times a swap like this is totally impossible, as every year for most every manufacturer, changes occur even just in calibration of software that requires some kind of hardware change to prevent failure. Bigger issue yet is the change from OBDI in 2004 to OBDII in 2006 --- the electrical requirements of the 2006 transmission is probably more elaborate.
