cost for rear differential

My labor guide says its 4.5 hours to replace the rear differential but that seems high to me. This labor time is on a 2WD V6, there is a 4WD and four cylinder options on your truck so prices all change depending on which model you have. A general repair shop is unlikely to overhaul the differential in house (special tools needed) ask them what your options are, replacing wit ha second hand unit, having your unit sent out and over hauled or having a re-manufactured unit installed.
