Hi - Dave here, contributing to RepairPal and providing expert advice since 2010. Disconnecting the battery cable while the vehicle is running is a terrible idea. You can cause lots of different problems. The engine's battery is the item that needs to sustain power to the vehicle's electrical system. The alternator and charging system maintains battery charge while driving, but the battery is what does all the work to keep the needed voltage and amperage for the electrical system. I would recommend professional testing of the charging system and see where it goes from there to get the concern resolved! https://repairpal.com/auto-repair-near-me Click the link to find some shops near you who can help out!
