Can you switch the whole wheels and tire from a 2004 Ford Taurus SE to a 2015 Nissan Altima 2.5 S?

I looked online and from what I can tell, they both have the standard tire size of P215/60R16. Is it safe to do so? I already have aftermarket 18" or 20" rims on the Altima that apparently aren't so compatible with the car, and I am ready to junk the taurus but I remembered that I have fairly new tires on there, so if the rims would fit and pose no safety issues, it seems like that is the way to go.
