I have a 2014 altima s and my ac is not taking freon

I replaced the compressor. (Test ran the clutch with a separate wire to make sure it's not faulty) and tried to put freon in and it wont take says see tech on the freon can gauge , would like to know any suggestions to avoid going to the dealership and the higher the ac the more it makes noise like something inside of it
