What is your question?
Driving down the road in my Altima coupe, VDC, SLIP, and ABS lights will come on. Then I will lose Power to my lights on the dash, Radio ETC (the accessories of the car). After I lose Power to all accessories while driving down the road the car quits in the middle of the road, almost Getting me killed and requiring me to jump Out and push it off the side of the highway. I had the battery tested and it’s good. The alternator was replaced not quite a year ago, but almost. However when you start the car, while testing the battery it’s not charging (which is the sign it’s the alternator) but I’m still just not sure... considering that alternator is not that old. I did change the ignition switch already, which seemed faulty and I thought it might be killing the recharge of the battery. Just need someone that knows nissans, or has possibly seen this problem before. Please help. Thanks. -Bethany Clawson
What makes this problem better or worse?
It doesn’t really have anything that makes it worse.... I can charge the battery enough that it will get me places, but the longer I run the more a chance I have of breaking down.
How long has your 2008 Nissan Altima had this problem?
It started a few months ago... thought it was a dead battery jumped it off. Wasn’t any issue for a while. Now it is every time I drive it. It’s been ongoing issue for about 2 weeks.

Hello, it sounds like your charging system is not working properly. Whether it be the alternator itself, cabling, a wiring harness and connector to the alternator, or something else -- there is a definite loss of charging power here. Testing will clearly show the voltage and amperage the alternator is capable of producing. You'll find both numbers are way too low, I'm pretty sure. Again, it may not be the alternator itself, but some replacement alternators are not all that good in the first place. Not sure the quality or brand of the one installed, but it is definitely suspect. www.repairpal.com/repair-shops
DaveJM, Thanks for writing me back. This actually has me really stumped for many reasons.... honestly my alternator is under warranty. It being replaced and resolving the issue for a little under a year just seemed a little suspect to me as far as the alternator goes. Hopefully I can find a shop somewhere to help me. So far the one person I had working on it is not being so helpful.
I’ve been having the same problems new battery and alternator on my way to work in the morning battery and brake light started to flash on and off on highway car drove fine got out of work around 10 pm turned on lights radio and started to charge phone jumped on highway fine 2 miles down highway headlights started flickering shut lights off car driving fine all of a sudden dashboard lights came on put hazard flashers on then dashboard and radio started to flash with hazard lights went in limp mode on and off picking up speed pulled over car dies took to a shop was told ecm was bad needs replacement was told ecm was reason car wasn’t charging 2 alternators and new battery later
