when I press the start button, the acc light goes on and then I have to press the start button again and there are 3 or 4 little clicks then it stops. I checked the battery and it's ok. Does this mean it's the starter or something in the electrical system? Is a starter easy to change on my own?

You will definitely want to have the starting system diagnosed by a professional, this is a fairly complex system, and many things can cause the symptoms you have. If they determine it needs a starter, then get a repair manual and give it a go, but if you start replacing parts without a proper diagnosis, you'll be wasting money almost guaranteed. Best of luck!
